Microwaved spuds are ok, but not the same. I'm still working out how to really crisp 'em. How much oil or fat is needed on the top.
No amount of oil will crisp it up unless you put it I very hot oven or under a hot grill after microwaving.
If you have a combi microwave you can run it on convection and microwave at the same time, so it will crisp as it cooks
I'd never put the oven on for baked potato. Before getting the combo microwave (as above), I'd microwave and finish off under the grill...or on my toaster's "bun rack" for a few minutes - nice and brown and crisp.

i think i microwaved it for a tiny bit too long and should have left it in the oven for a tiny bit longer but the oil on the skin was a good tip oh and also the cheese i used was not to my standard really it was a bit rubbery not crumbly chedder
