i've just been talking to someone who is giving up dairy for lent. She has a baby who she is still breastfeeding. This got me thinking, is human milk classed as dairy? If not, what exactly is the definition of dairy?

Udder stuff
Can your friend reach her own nipple with her mouth?

Just wondering.
According to my dictionary, "dairy" means:
relating to, producing, or containing milk products.
No mention of where the milk comes from.
surely that is a bit of a boob, giving up on dairy intake when you are feeding the little one.

Thanks, Bookbinder that's exactly what I've found. The nutrition of the child isn't in question DT.

Very clever Ron...BTW I clicked Best Answer by mistake. I suppose it was too much to ask to expect a sensible answer for a question pertaining to mamary glands *sigh*
