New neighbour moved in last week (renting the bungalow next door) and we haven't spoken as yet.
Got up this morning to find someone had put a bag full of rubbish in my bin which was out for collection. This meant my bin would not shut properly and I had to put it in my other neighbour's bin (after asking her) so as to avoid a ticking off by the 'bin police'.
The new neighbours bin was overflowing so I can only assume it was her rubbish in my bin, as my other neighbours wouldn't dream of doing that.
Should I see her about it or ignore it for harmony's sake...........

Ouch.. sounds like they are off to a good start!
I'd mention it - just friendly in passing... (if thats possible) or maybe you could visit to introduce yourself.. let them know that bin collection day is X and that the bin police are a bit of a nightmare where you are so you have to be careful how much you throw away.. then say.. Some bugger only went and put a bin bag...

I don't believe anyone would do this out of naivety, seems quite rude to me. I agree you should make a point of introducing your self and mention it. Perhaps take a welcome gift with you, hedgehog stew or something.
I'd suggest taking a bottle of gin round, but as this is Crafty we're talking about, scrub that idea.

Still go and introduce yourself and as you leave, casually mention Oh, btw don't know about your last place, but we've got serious bin police around here.

*Guffawsnort* @ triggs.
I actually don't think they'll like it round here. We are all retired old farts and I think she's a single parent with a couple of youngish children.
More like you won't like them round there....

You wait till summer and the 'Hello Ms Crafty.....can I have my ball back please'

Naw there are 2 girls ummmm.............I can't believe how quiet they are in the house. I keep expecting them to come round and ask me to turn the music down.
Okay...you wait until they start skipping round the garden squealing.
lol, reminds me of last night. Younger son cleaned his side of his room, came downstairs to put rubbish in the bin, (our bin, not the neighbours) and was horrified about how loud is music was. I thought it ironic that a 17 year old thought his own music sounded loud.

I must admit that as next door has been empty for a year until now, that my music has been quite loud............I'm trying to tone it down but you can't listen to Meat Loaf or Queen quietly.
The only way to do ML or Queen justice is LOUD :)

gawwd, I'd rephrase but you know wot I mean
I'd ignore it once. Then I would rip her heart out and make her eat it.... ;oP

Thanks CD................I think that could be the way forward.
it is probably just extra stuff from moving in...id leave it for now... wait to see if its a one off.

no matter how you phrase it, no matter how many niceties you use, she wil still take it as you are having a moan - it is not that easy to hide your true feelings and she will probably see right through you - its called passive aggressive.

beside which, you have absolutely NO PROOF it was her - it could be any neighbours, or even just someone walking down the road...so you are likely to get her back if it wasnt her

id check the contents first
I try my best to get on with my neighbours. It saddens me when people get so anal about stuff like this. In years gone by you wouldnt have dreamed of complaining , because you would have helped your neighbour. But now people only care about themselves . Its a sad enditement of english society today that we even grudge letting our neighbours use our bin. This is england 2011 , welcome to the era of caring for yourself.
Check in her bin for some kind of evidence of her address, council, benefit letters or anything that looks like its from her place.

If anything found take it back and leave it on her front door step.
