Meeting someone at Heathrow tomorrow from Finland, their mobile number starts +358 so what do I put in to ring him? Do I have to put a '0' in front of it?

No, just put +358.

Make sure that your mobile carrier allows you to make international calls - some have this facility disabled by default...

Being dense here - how do I put the + in?
Your mobile phone should have a + key on it. (With my Nokia, you double-click the * button). That automatically dials the international access code in whichever country you're currently in. (So you dial exactly the number you've been given, including the + That will work from anywhere in the world).

Otherwise you need to dial the international access code which is used by the country which you're located in. Here in the UK that's 00. (Then just dial the number, as given, but without the +).

On my mobile the + is on the 0 key...............

Thanks Chris, got a Nokia and just tried double clicking and got the +!

If they are here for a reasonable length of time it may pay them to get a SIM for a UK network early on. Saves the cost of calling international when they are a few streets or towns away.

Arriving Heathrow 9 am and leaving 4pm! Taking two dogs back so will only be here for a few hours.
