Why is it that when you hurt some part of your body, you spend the next couple of days banging the hurt part? I cut my hand yesterday and despite it being bandaged up (to avoid it getting hurt further) I have managed to hit it constantly today (or so it seems)?

I'd like to know. I found an enormous bruise on my leg, didn't have a clue how it got there, then later, bash right on the bruise. It continued for about a week, it was the handle on a cabinet door, that it took me a week of pain to realise is ridiculous.
I know the feeling, you have my sympathy

Ingrowing toenail that's agony - stubbed toe, dropped mug on it and nephew ran a car into it, all in the space of about 10 minutes.!!
Welcome to my world.

It was a stupid accident in the first place, somehow got the clip of the walking reins stuck in the skin between my thumb and finger. Before I could work out what was going on, thing 1 and thing 2 started walking off with the clip stuck in my hand.
it's called sods law!

Isn't it more a case of just noticing it more because of the original injury/pain?
Yes Snags....but it's not until you have an injury that you realise how clumsy you actually are :-)
