I recently got my first slow cooker and was wondering if it is working properly.
The thing is that it bubbles/boils on both low and high settings and ingredients like carrots are soft in an hour.
This doesn't seem right to me; should it be bubbling?
It is a Gino D'Campo slow cooker.
Mine doesn't bubble, it just simmers very gently. It must be a powerful one if carrots cook in an hour. Mine's a Morphy Richards. Maybe it's normal for the Gino D'Campo one.
slow cookers vary a lot, i have 3, one large for family meals, and 2 small for individual meals when we are either not all home or all having something different.the 2 small ones that are exactly same size but cook at very different rates, all 3 boil/bubble on high setting, but only one of the small ones bubbles on low.Think its just a case of getting used to the one you have :-)
Is it oval-shaped ? I have had two of these in quick succession, and they have both overheated. I suggest you get in touch with the manufacturers, if they have a customer service centre, and ask what temperature this item should reach. It may be still under guarantee.
