When I changed my provider a few weeks back, during the set up there was one wireless network only showing as available. When I looked last night ( out of curiosity ) there were 3! The one I know is mine and 2 others, one from the my provider. Is this a threat or do they maybe belong to my neighbours and are in the catchment area? Should I be concerned ?

Grateful for your advice.

The 'strange' ones belong to neighbours and are (should be) password protected.

An unprotected wireless modem/router is a target for 'Road Knights' that cruise around with a laptop looking for unprotected signals so they can park outside and download movies etc. thieving the target's broadband quota.

Thank you wildwood, in that case I shall not worry about them. I am sure ( fairly ) my network is secure. Back to non worrying mode, Thank you.
