Hi Barber

I have a brand new World Atlas with a page of island outlines.  Greenland is the nearest one - I appreciate it's not done very well but there aren't any others with a colour in the name, except Isle of Wight and it's not that.

q. 4 could be forecourse sails ?not 100%

They are not forecourse, that is the square sail in between the sails you are looking for.  Vic and Dave reckon that there are two acceptable names but I have found three.  The sails you are looking for, the ones above them and the ones above them are all classed as this type of sail preceded by the type of sail that separates them.

The origin of their name is:

C16: studding, perhaps from Middle Low German, Middle Dutch stotinge, from stoten to thrust; related to German stossen.

thanks for that last one del i owe you one
