Hi all.....I have some tapes taken on a digital video camera and would like them on DVDs.

All I have at the moment are the tapes, a DVD (record)drive on my PC and a firewire socket also on my pc, plus a firewire cable which came with the pc.(The camera is not mine but I can borrow it for the job.)

My question(s) are firstly what if any software would I need and then secondly the basics of how to proceed.............It would be nice if the software was freeware. Not that I am mean but this would be only a one off job or at least a rare occurence...any tips or help greatly appreciated...thanks........................Commoner

When you borrow the camera, borrow the CD that came with it. Just about every DV camcorder comes with bundled software for transferring to the PC and buring to DVD.
