I made this cake last Friday 28th April and there is still over half left. I'm having some friends over this coming Saturday for a meal so I was wondering could I freeze the cake then on Saturday heat it up wrapped in tin foil in the oven and serve it with either whipped cream or custard. Is it a good idea or would it be a disaster.???
may be a bit dry by now puss!..........if you'd frozen it the day after you baked it, then I'm sure it would have been fine, but not so sure now!...........try it!........but have a back up, in case it's not good!..................
it'll be fine. i'd take it out of the freezer in the morning and just re-heat each slice in the microwave for about 20 seconds when you're ready to serve it. i regularly make a couple of banana cakes with over ripe bananas (no walnuts though) and they freezes very nicely.
puss, just about everything is suitable for freezing. it's mainly stuff like fresh strawberries, tomatoes and cucumber which contain a lot of water that don't, although a tomatoe sauce would freeze very nicely.
Well that's quickly done and dusted. cake is now in the freezer, just checked in store cupboard and have a tin of Ambrosia custard so that's the pud sorted, thanks folks.
