Hiya

Here is a website with archaeological digs you can go on.  http://www.thistlecamps.org.uk/index.htm

Go to your local library and find details of a local archaeological society. They may have local digs, or can put you in contact with other groups who have digs.

Thanks for your answers

I went on a dig once..1980

My God! it cured any desire to continue in archeology,so I suppose some good came of it....

Digs rely on volunteer labour - you'll be welcome. Or try the sources below. But beware - it's more like navvying than anything else! And it helps if you drink.

Excavations fact sheet
The CBA (Council for British Archaeology) has a free fact sheet covering Everything you always wanted to know about archaeological excavations but were afraid to ask. Copies can be obtained from Jenny Hudson at St Mary's House, 66 Bootham, York YO30 7BZ, tel 01904 671417, or can be downloaded from the CBA web site at www.britarch.ac.uk/CBA/factshts.html
