A nice sherry trifle
I remember when we firts got a freezer when we were kids and my mum bought Viennetta for christmas pud.....we thought we'd died and gone to heaven! lol

This was a big change from the home made clootie dumpling or christmas pudding and custard that we were used to. I know what I'd rather have now.

As a family, we generally don't do puddings at all - even the kids aren't that interested. I'll maybe make a trifle or just have some crepes with chocolate sauce. I've a recipe somewhere, think it is nigella's where she spreads crepes with nutella and bakes them in the oven with something and serves them with cream.

sounds nice Annie
Found the recipe - she spreads the crepes, folds them in half, spreads on top of the half then folds again into a fan shape, then layers them in a shallow oven dish. She then warms butter with a hazlenut liqueur or brandy and pours over the crepes and sprinkles with chopped nuts then bakes for 10 minutes and serves with cream whipped with a little of the liqueur or brandy.

yum x have you tried the one with nutella annie does it tase good ?
We had it once, It was nice, I used Baileys as I didn't have hazlenut liqueur or brandy and just had it with plain pouring cream, but we enjoyed it. We don't really have puddings a lot, that's mainly the reason we haven't had it again. It's in Nigella's express book. if your interested I'll give the weights and measures later.

Nutella Pancakes recipe: Nigella Lawson - Nigella Express

Ingredients:
- 8 store-bought crepes
- 1 jar (400g) Nutella
- 75g soft butter
- 80ml Frangelico + 2 tablespoons
- 35g chopped hazelnuts
- 250 ml double cream

Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 200C.
- Put each crepe in front of you and spread some Nutella over one half, then fold the unspread side over the spread side. Now add a dollup of Nutella over one quarter and fold again. Place on a buttered swiss-roll tin or similar. Proceed with the remaining crepes, overlapping them a little in the tin as you go.
- Put the butter in a small pan with the Frangelico, and heat gently to melt. Pour over the crepes in their tin and sprinkle most of the chopped hazelnuts on top. Bake for 10 minutes.
- Meanwhile, whisk the cream with the remaining 2 tablespoons Frangelico until you have an aerated soft floppiness, and put into a bowl, sprinling with the last of the crushed hazelnuts. This luscious cream is a must alongside the sweet, buttery, heavenly crepes.
