Can you really 'cough up a lung'??

I once heard a story about a man coughing up a lung (in the story he died!!) but I was wondering whether this is actually possible?! Thanx

No you can't. As your lungs are connected to your windpipe you would have to turn the lung inside out in order for it to come out.

however I heard the same story - in 1960 !

presumbly some of the spit, sort of organises, and because it has holes in it,smells and is spongy, looks like a bit of rotten lung.

Very nearly did in 1995. Decided to stop smoking. No problem since.
Cracking answer dilligaf. Haven't laughed so much since I read the initial question.
