Well my party will be next week and I am providing drinks and refreshments. I asked my friend what wine does she want she said above. Not knowing myself about wines I did not realise there were so many brands.

Anybody tell me what really really good sauvignon wine to get her - she is a connoisseur of wines. Thanks

thanks China and Bobbi - she is that blo dy fussy - I think I will ask her directly. I guess everybody's taste is different.

I am also looking out for champagne - at the moment have been told to get Moet and Chandon or Bollinger - will be getting all the drinks next week. Then do the food day before - am going to try a very sweet Nigella recipe that I hope will go down well and of course my party piece Pavlova.
Have my party bags made up too - thanks for everybody's help throughout this year.
The one I suggested I have never seen a lover of the sauvy blanc turn down! ;0)

As a general guideline, I think the ones from New Zeland tend to be the best (although I've had some nice chillean ones in the pub and I think they're a bit cheaper too) but I'm no wine expert... I just drink a lot of sauvy!
After two or three glasses you can start giving her any old crap...she won't notice..honest :-)

that's funny ummm - the same dearie would notice I am afraid. hahha
Hi Connemmara,

Sainsbury's are doing a rather nice Sauv Blanc (NZ) at the moment. It's down from about £9.95 to £4.99. It's called Mak.. something (?) Bay... They are selling out of it pretty damn fast.

Champagnes... forget Bolly and Moet - they're crap. They are champagnes for people who don't really know Champagne. Right now Asda are doing Jacquart and Jacquart Rosé at Roll Back prices. If you want to impress, try a Perrier Jouet non Vintage - prices start at about £26.99, depending where you shop.
Just as an afterthought, if she is a true connoisseur of fine wines, then Pouilly-Fumé and Sancerre are both made from the Sauvignon grapes. Tesco Finest Pouilly-Fumé is around about £9.98 and is pretty hard to beat. Sancerres - decent ones - retail at about £12 upwards. Personally, I think the NZ Sauvs are the tastiest and there are plenty of special offers out there, like the one I mentioned in my previous post.
red or white sauvignon? (sorry to get technical)
