It was about kids in Children's Homes - what came out in abundance was that all the kids - even the ones that were hard to handle, just wanted a stable family life and to be with their parents. The parents, mostly had problems with drugs, drink etc.

One little lad called Connor was being fostered by a lovely family who had two teenage daughters, they adored the lad and he was so insecure and worried everytime one of them left the house - he was looking to be adopted, but the foster couple felt because of their ages, when little Connor was around 14 they would be in their 60's, this stopped them from having him.

I got through a box of Kleenex.

whats age got to do with it?? if they were long term fostering i cant see what difference it would make if they adopted him, after all if their daughters were teenagers he would only be a decade or so younger than them. x
that sounds really sad! i didnt see that last night? I would have cried buckets too.
What time and channel was that on Den53 x
A lot of folk have teenagers when they are in their sixties and I would have kept him - it was so heartrending - poor little chap. However, they were wise people and considered it wouldn't be right for him or for them. I could never foster and then let a child go.

The other Connor, poor lad, also broke my heart. An intelligent, articulate boy badly let down by his mother, yet he still adored her.

A very sad programme, but I must admit the social workers and care workers shown were absolutely dedicated, kind and realistic. Glad that the young girl is getting on well in her foster home.

How's things Den?
I didn't see the show but it sounds as though it portrayed the social workers in a good light.
They do a stressful job and almost all are overworked. If one makes a mistake the right-wing press is after them baying for their blood.

Pusskin - It was on BBC 1 at 8ish last night.

Hiya Lottie - the little Connor was such a lovely little chap - I wonder if they did keep in the end. I could'nt foster and then give him up for adoption, I bet he broke his little heart.

What came across with all the kids, is they still loved their Mothers (never seemed to be a Dad about) despite being in care. The Social Workers also looked lovely and caring.

Things not to bad Lottie - still can't come to terms with Mum being in the home. Breaks my heart everytime I see her. Something I will just have to live with - but will never accept.

Hope you are o.k Lottie. Den xx
Hello Den.
I didn't actually see the whole prog but flicked over & saw the Connor story. yes it was heart-breaking. My imagination ran riot and I thought if anything happened to my Daughter & her Hubby! well the thought of those two little girls going into care really tormented me. We could cope with em as two little girls now, but in 10 years time?????? I couldn't watch the rest of the prog.
My H and I were still discussing it this morning.

I hope your dear old mum is settleing in now in the nursing home.Do you see her often? Where abouts is she Den? local or - - - ?

take care.
I've just caught up with the programme on iplayer! (thanks den)
I was choked watching that! Its made me feel that social workers do have a good heart, and they do their best for the kids. That was very sad, and I hope that social workers keep up the good work x
