Did anyone watch Panorama last night about the state of the middle class people who are now reduced to living in tent camps with no sanitation & no water on tap
This is the land of opportunity & freedom where some are free-er than others, there is now only the rich & the poor with the rich ( Republicans mostly) denying basic rights to the rest of their society. Thank God for our democratic way of life in the UK.

some of it, and having been to the states a number of times, i was shocked at some of the housing that people live in and the level of poverty i witnessed along the route.
Yes, I watched it. Quite shocking.
We should applaud our country's way of dealing with basic welfare for all. We might have a good moan but you are far less likely to have to live on the streets and die of treatable illnesses in the rickety old UK than in the soaraway USA.
The people who run the homeless charity I work for only see things getting worse in this country...there are going to be more losing their jobs and homes what with all the cut backs by both government and industry. So don't assume every one has a nice safe bubble to protect them.
whiskyrom, for those that did not see it, you dont mention that this was in the USA.
There was a contestant on American Idol who was living in a forest with her husband. They both had part-time jobs but couldn't get full time, so they could not afford to rent and their families were miles away.
Last year they had a man who lived in a car because his home had been taken away.
yes i saw the guy on tv last night he was told by a doc (working for a charity) he needed an urgent op on a hernia, he went to hospital, they told him it would cost $20.000. the guy lived in a tent... he went home and will prob die within weeks
I didn't think he was told he would die in weeks, but rather that he was at very high risk of developing gangrene.
Yes...he'd had it for years as well.
Hmmm, so called land of the free. A land that is meant to be a shining example and leaders of the free world. A land of hypocrites and people with superficial morals in my opinion. Not all of them of course. Not a country I would ever wish to visit - it makes me so angry!!
