Further to my previous thread and the wonder food I have just discovered called Spirulina. Can someone please tell me if it is safe to take this as I take 20mg Simvastatin daily ?

thanks everyone for all your help x food for thought literally.
That's another interesting thing, because Spirulina has been shown to lower cholesterol significantly. As it is a complete "food"... it shouldn't hinder the simvastatin in anyway, but it is always best to seek advice from your Doctor first.
I cannot take it as I have a seafood allergy :S
I;m on simvastatin and some of the reported side effects are pretty scary, so I take CQ10 as a supplement to (apparently) counteract the muscle problems. I'd like to get off the statin - this would be worth looking at. Depends how much it costs though - I get my prescriptions free and some supplements can be very expensive.
Spirulina+Simvastin......no big deal.
