So Tessa Sanderson refused to be married by a Female Priest?

Surely being of a race that is always crying discrimination of one kind or other, I would have thought the fact that she herself is also a woman, would have at least shown herself to be non-discriminative.

There are some Christian groups who still feel that the ordination of women is against the teachings of the faith. I don't understand it myself but I am sure she's not the only one, she's just high profile. Until there is a female Archbishop of Canterbury, we will never be able to test - for instance - if a member of the Queen's family, as head of the CofE - would feel likewise.
Miss Sanderson, who competed in five Olympic Games, is understood to come from
a traditional Christian background and describes herself as a regular churchgoer.
She said last night: ‘It wasn’t because I disagree with woman priests. It was just that I had been working all that time with a male priest.

‘If I had been working with a lady from the start, that would have been OK. But we wanted to carry on with what we had been working with.’
That sounds fair enough then.

Try giving that excuse if one wanted to stick to one Doctor, who happened to be white, but he was replaced by a black doctor?

"I had been treated by a white doctor, so I thought it best to keep to a white doctor".
I wouldn't argue that second question with you, AOG, but the context is different. Some Christians don't believe in the ordination of women, but race discrimination is a different agenda. Tessa Sanderson didn't say she didn't want to be married by a white priest rather than a black one.
After all the recent news about Priest and Vicars indulging in various acts with young boys etc, if I were to get married again, it would be in a Registrars office.

To be discriminated against, is just as bad for the person discriminated against, whether it is because of one's race, one's gender, one's sexuality, one's age, or one's disabilities.

One just doesn't have to be black to experience discrimination.
I agree entirely AOG
I'd have thought that at her age, 54, she should just be happy that somebody wants to marry her instead of acting like the spoilt adolescent by throwing a wobbler about who might officiate - she aint exactly the blushing bride variety anymore, is she? Dizzy b!nt!
What is she talking about : # It wasn’t because I disagree with woman priests. It was just that I had been working all that time with a male priest. # . In what way does a female priest conduct a service that is different from a male.? I think she is just looking for an excuse .
Racism and sexism are down to someone's belief that they are superior to another race or sex.

This is neither - she does't believe that male priests are superior - she believes that the Bible dictates that females should not be ordained.

You may just as well accuse her of racism because she refuses to be married by a Greek Orthodox Priest
