Brought back some old memories - I think my mum's still got the 45 - it had a scratch at the end which meant it just kept repeating "...the beat, .... the beat, .... the beat" until you got up & lifted the needle.  I always assumed it was designed that way but maybe we just had an odd copy

No, stoo_pid, (sounds like I'm being rude!), it wasn't a duff copy - it was designed to do that.

For anyone interested, The Look have just released their second album (yep, just 25 years after their debut!). It's called Pop Yowlin' and includes I Am The Beat as a bonus track.
