No favourites

I can not add to favourites .The laptop inspiron 1501 tells me it is not set up or a file cant be found or summit like that .Every time I want to return to a site I have to put it in the search box .Is there any way I can get favourites fixed or is there a way I can bookmark these sites. Any ideas?

Thank you Ive found the file .Dont know how to get them back on the desk top .Will read about it again now I know where they are .When I tried to open a selected "favourite" it did not take me to that site but rather a box came up say this path was not possible or summit like that .Will read more in to it later .Thanks aain

They have appeared under links on the task bar .Dont know how that happened .Thanks again
