That Fray Bentos is the town in Uruguay where the famous pies and corned beef are made and have been made for just over 100 years.

yes I knew that when i was 12
sorry Garmard that was just a statement and not meant to be as rude as it seems whenh i read it back!!! My family raised beef cattle in the 1950s and 60s and Fray bentos were swear words in our house. lol
100 years I thought that last corned beef hash tasted foisty.
well I didn't know that!
It's one of the few things my geography teacher told me that actually stuck, probably because it was linked to some sort of major food poisoning outbreak a few years before that.
I knew that.
I remember that saxyjag, didn't they wash the meat in a toxic river then canned it? or or something similar? - people went off corned beef for several years as a result of that, as I recall.

I do like corned beef
I love corned beef hash with lots of soft potatoes, or lobby as they call it in Lancashire
