Nope
er NO
Ask to see the fail sheet or state on the contract what work the vendor feels will be needed for the M.O.T.
if he got the mot before he sold it and took 3 months to sell it then it would only have 9 months on it !!
Just tell him it doesn't get paid for until you see the MOT certificate.

quite a common car sales practice, it might still have a few months MOT on it, but its sold with a new full 12 months MOT & they are not going to do this until the deals done in case the finance was refused or the deal falls through, cant really see what the problem is...
What, you mean they don't have to MOT it the day they put it up for sale and then re-MOT it every single day afterwards until it's sold to ensure it's always got a, current, up-to-date 12months MOT on it.

Well I never!
Standard practice
Why - If he M.O.Ts it when you buy it all is good.
If you can afford, although what has been said is right, I would get the car re-tested the same day in poss! Why? there are tests & there are tests! Do you get my meaning?
When i bought my car the guy had it MOTd on the day before I collected it, meant I had a full 12 months on the certificate. No prob.
i suppose only if it doesnt pass the mot, but he must know that it will
