Maybe its because they could change the opening hours at some point
!0 Downing Street should be the most secure door in the country, but there is no keyhole.

Don't they lock it then panic?
For use in emergency situations, and when they go on vacations, probably.
They probably lock their doors at 11pm similar to what Shell Garages do, but carry on serving the Public through Security Window.
So why are they still called 7-11 ...

... when they neither open at 7, nor close at 11 ?
No.10 can only be opened from the inside.
Good Question JJ ! lol
I was going to point that out JJ

7-11's open at 7am and shut at 11pm (there is a clue in the name)

Shops that open 24hours are called, 25 hour shops.
25 hour shops??

They obviously don't shut for lunch!
No.10 can only be opened from the inside ?

So if they ever lock themselves out, they're in trouble !
a 7-11 is not open 24 hours...

that would be a 24-7..
"So why are they still called 7-11 ...

they are opened all seven days of the week and I have no explanation for the
11th hour :-), or maybe someone changes shift at eleven?

LOL JJ, good point if they lock themselves out :-)

I didn't know that BTW panic...
Initially, these stores were open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., hours unprecedented in their length, hence the name.

that's from wiki
the dont open 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

there are still sunday trading laws and xmas trading laws Im sure.
