I just glanced out my window and over Lake Ontario there is a distinct ashen colored layer suspended there. It is not ordinary cloud layer or industrial pollution: I've lived in this location for over 30 years so I know the difference. About an hour ago, we had brilliant sunshine and now it's really dull. The fall-out from that volcano must be really widespread. Are you guys experiencing any of this?

Not bad, Steve; and you. Anyway I guess I shouldn't really be surprised since Ontario is sort of downhill from Iceland.

you can always rely on vibes to lower the tone!

there's supposed to be a spectacular sunset tonight because of the volcanic ash.
Question Author
Never thought of that, sara. Unfortunately it looks as if we wont be able to see the sunset tonight.
Update: Can't currently see any 'dust' here in South East England, but ALL of the planes throughout the whole of UK have now been grounded since midday today till 8am Friday morning at the earliest, all flights cancelled due to the dust cloud making it's way over the UK. It was in the highlands (Scotland area) and working south-wards.
Appears same has happened in all Scandinavia too (affecting Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark). Not sure where else been affected by this.
As usual British wingers about flights been cancelled, OH did I not state that the volcanic dust will bring down a plane! well I SUPOSE SO, JESUS!

After reading that the prevailing air currents at 20,000 or so feet are north-westerly, I'm starting to think that perhaps it wasn't ash that I saw. However, it is quite a coincidence that I have never seen anything that color over the Lake in the 30 plus years that I have lived here and that there has been a volcanic erruption.
Got a very poor signal on my netbook in what is usually a very good area, could this be due to the ash cloud overhead?
it's clear over Clayton stewy.
No sign of anything down here in south-west Wales!!
