How is the distance a ski jumper has travelled measured? Is it where the front, back or middlle of the ski touches down? If it is to the nearest metre, that is very imprecise compared to the times and distances of the other winter Olympic disciples. Also, the jumper often hovers just above the slope before landing making it difficult to know the exact point he landed. I know the distance is only part of the overall mark but I'd still be interested in knowing how it is measured.
