Surely you should just report them to your line 1 manager.....it's up to management as to what further action should be taken.

why would you want to snitch on a workmate
come on chaps...........I'm a smoker and I thought exactly what you typed........it may make him feel better...........
Agree with ahms, have you nothing better to do, like your own work!!!!
Surely the correct procedure is to draw upon the nearest fire extinguisher and squirt it at the seat of the smoke.

come on AB'ers this guy is trying to uphold a right in law not to breath cancerous fumes.
Unfortunately there are still a minority of sick minded people who think it is their right to smoke in the workplace - it is not.
Wilkesneil, make sure you have support of others and take it to your supervisor or manager they have a legal duty to sort it out. Good luck.
(Just check this guy is working in an enclosed area !)

I agree with ahms.
not stereotyping anyone, but it is widely known that smoking is illegal in an enclosed workplace so the miscreant is likely to: a) not care or b) be doing it to wind folks up.
I have worked in places where approaching someone directly results in verbal and once, physical abuse.
if you go round telling people they are sick minded no wonder you got a slap

this guy doesnt speak to anyone. anything you say to him just results in verbal abuse back and end up in a big argument. this is the last port of call, supervisors know he does it, he smokes about 40 a day while at work for 8 hours. i dont mind him doing it but its just his attitude to everything and everyone and he thinks hes above everyone else and the law..
put a sign up right on his machine ---subtle hint
seems a bit odd your superviosr not doing anything, do they know the company gets fined also?

your council has a smoking ban officer and they are usually right pedantic tw@ts but you could call them
