What can I add to steamed vegetables to give them a bit of flavour? They always taste so bland. I don't like chillies or smilar 'hot' additions. Many thanks.

We put bacon bits (and sometimes chopped chestnuts) in our Brussels sprouts or cabbage, if we feel like a change. Since we've been steaming our veg though, we find they taste better if you slightly undercook them so they still have a bit of bite.
You could make a herb butter a bit unhealthy but hey ho!
Splash some Balsamic vinegar on them...
oyster sauce always works for me!
Cheese sauce.
toasted sesame seeds on carrots

caraway seeds on cabbage

ginger on green beans

how about adding half a chicken oxo and a tablespoon of cream to just cooked spinach, leeks or celery?
Whole grain mustard on green cabbage, apple and cinnamon with red cabbage. Try buying organic carrots they are always tasty.
crumble some oxo cube onto the veg and toss them around - yum
