With gun crime doubling in a decade, and we now have a team of the Met's elite firearms unit, who will walk the beat armed with semi-automatic pistols and sub-machine guns in gun crime hot spots in London where armed gangs have turned estates into "no-go zones".

What will happen if and when some youngster is shot?

Will there be claims of the police overacting, the officer suspended from duty pending a internal inquiry, or even claims that the gun toting youngster has had his human rights violated in some way etc, etc?

Taking this into account will any officer dare to use his weapon?

This being the case what is the real answer, in the quest to reduce this gang and gun crime culture?

I am not in favour of the police routinely carry guns on British streets. Any police presence on these estates would act as a similar deterrent. Or possibly things are so bad on these estates that the police guns are for their own safety rather than protecting the public.
how about turning the 02 arena into a version of the ok coral?

all these t0$$ers could turn up at showtime and freely blast the hell out of each other in comfort

it could be like a sports club where they all have an individual locker where they can keep their weapons

to keep fairness the shoot outs should be on categories of age / gun calibre / semi or fully auto etc

it would make the streets safer

Similarly, I would have thought that after the Olympics, they could turn the Olympic Arena into a Colosseum.

Imagine what a boost that would have for London's tourist trade?

Saying that, the viewing figures for TV's "Big Brother" , "X Factor", "Strictly Come Dancing" or even "The Jeremy Kyle Show" would plummet.
