Why does my computer not switch off when I click on the 'switch off ' button. It closes down ( I think) but then goes into a colour recycle screen and doesn't close down, as it used to. The little button, bottom right, used to go brown when it was switched off, but now it turns green for a second or two and then starts it's colour cycle and doen't turn off???
Have I re-set something or 'cocked up' some settings??
Any help please?? Thanks!

it's a setting under power options in the control panel, you can set what you want the power button to do, sounds like it's been set to suspend rather than turn off.

If you can't find it post back saying if it's vista or XP

It's the monitor that wont turn off!! I have to switch the computer off at the wall to close everything down; but when I switch on at the wall, the monitor goes into it's colour cycle before I even switch on the computer!!
The monitor is working perfectly and I'm wondering if there's a program that can diagnose where the problem is coming from?
PS. The system is Home Edition XP
Any help much appreciated
Thanks
try pressing the little button that goes brown as some computors do not turn off the monitor when it shuts down. They have to be turned off separately
