My computer is not shutting down correctly. I go through thee usual 'Start-Shutdown-OK' proocedure and it goes straight to the light blue 'Windows Is Shutting Down Screen' and stays there. I usually turn off the power at the mains after abbout 2 minutes, but once I left it for 45 mins on that screen. This problem has occured four daays consecutively. What is the fault, is it severe, what is my recommended course of action?

it's not severe but annoying. there are a few possible causes and most have a solution. go to the Microsoft Support Centre on the web (support.microsoft.com) and search the knowledge base with the words 'shutdown hangs' and work through the diagnoses and fixes
