The government has refuse a �30m loan to the West Midlands van maker LDV.
This loan could save 900 jobs and thousands in the supply chain.
Yet money in of no object, when it comes to dishing out millions to Gaza and Afghanistan. Yet the ironicalness of all this is in the following statement.
The pledge brings the total to �510m, which will go towards creating jobs, fighting the drugs trade and helping develop the Afghan Government.
Perhaps you have just got back from the job centre, again with little chance of finding a job?
Or you are wondering how you are going to keep that roof over your head?
Or perhaps if you are still in work, perhaps you are wondering who is next in line for the chop?
Never mind it is reassuring that our government are looking after the rest of the World.

In a word - no.
I think it is very hard to assimilate the allocation of funds for foreign wars as against the needs of domestic industry.
I live in Stoke, and we have seen the deepest coal mine in the country, one of the biggest steel works in Europe, and one of the biggest Michelin plants in Europe - together with virtually all the world-famous craftsman produced pottery in the world dessimated in the last twenty years, with not so much as a peep from the government(s) of the day.
Of far more concern to me is the way a 'Labour' government have presided over the 'fat cat' management culture, with its attendent catastrophe, and only now do they make noises about changing the culture.
I understand the premise of world trade and support for developing nations, but tne failure of the entire Russian army to subdue the rogue elements in Afghanistan must surely highlight the folly of our prescence.

Of course it's fair oldgit, how else would the poor impoverished souls get the money to buy ammunition to shoot our boys with or their corrupt politicians be able to spend thousands on celebrations and parties (and no doubt a few Swiss Bank accounts) while their countries go down the drain? This is one reason that ,while happy to support local charities I NEVER donate if I think the money is going out of the country. We've more then enough people of our own with problems that need sorting
