I don't know about you, but I doubt that Global Warming is happening. Even if it is, I doubt that mankind is responsible.

For sceptics and adherents alike, please take some time to watch and absorb the words of Professor Bob Carter...

Of course you could believe that thousands of the most capable scientists in the world have all missed these obvious points

Jake - I refer back to my previous answer re eugenics - and who believed it?

Well pretty much every scientific body from the Carnegie Institute to Alexander Graham Bell. There were plenty of laws that were passed in most of the Western Countries so presumably the majority of leaders believed in it as well.

Well, obviously Hitler believed in it. How many scientists went against their peers and said this was not an imminent threat?

Takes a lot of balls and a lot of money to research.

Where do you get the money from to do this research?
If plantations are needed for CO2 then how do people breathe in deserts where there is only sand?

An indoor concert with too many crowded they still manage to breathe?

How do we equate our emissions and deforesting with annual forest fires in Med, US & Far East + global volcanic eruptions?

Global warming - poppycok. Starvation due to over population - True and should be our main focus.
This thread has restored my faith in AB users.

Whenever this topic has been raised and I voice my heretic (and now, apparently, "Right Wing" views) I am castigated, pilloried and treated as if I have just shot a puppy and drowned a sack full of kittens.. My intelligence is questioned and my understanding of basic English vocabulary is cross-examined. And all because I do not subscribe to the latest religion.

This thread has shown that there are points of view which do not accord with the party line but which are equally valid.

Im glad terambulan has raised the issue of over-population. I have mentioned in the past that this is far and away the greatest threat to mankind (although not necessarily to the existence of the planet. It will continue to exist long after we have gone). Any effects that climate change may have (whether manmade or otherwise) pale into insignificance when put alongside the effects that excessive population growth is already having, especially in so-called developing countries.

Strangely the authorities are remarkably silent on this topic. I could be cynical and suggest that this might be because there is not much revenue to be raised by encouraging people to have fewer children. But I wont.
I don't understand why this debate always divides between those who believe GW is a man-made reality and those who believe it's just a scam to get more money off people.
Surely it's a bit of both - a reality that's being cynically exploited to get more money off people whether that's going to help solve the problem or not.

Incidentally, my electricity company just sent me a gift of two low energy lightbulbs. These are the same people who just put the price up by 30% to safeguard their massive profits. Shouldn't there be a law against taking the p!ss in such a blatant fashion?
