why didnt you get it at the post office then you wouldnt have had to wait
it does not take long to come, mine came after 2 days
That is what happens when one panics. Normal brain goes haywire. They will not find you that fast. You have just as much chance as winning the lottery.
print something off to prove that you've paid for it, and keep it with you. if you're stopped you would stand a better chance of not getting fined if you can show you've done it, albeit a bit late.
sara3 - as the offence is failure to display a valid tax disc, that wouldn't work at all.

You have two choices - buy another tax disc from the post office and send the first one back for a refund;

Take a chance.

The disc usually comes through very quickly - I would take a chance
fair comment :o)

thank you all. i was like a headless chicken and should have gone to post office but thought id be covered instantly online.printersnot working on top of everything.
DVLA clamping unit cannot touch you until 30 days after your tax expires due to their legislation.
Failing to display is not something that is enforced as if you go through a NPR the vehicle will show as taxed anyway.
The only small problem may be someone looking at your vehicle eg nosy neighbours who think you have no tax when you actually do.
