Free Bus Travel

Can anyone tell which bus numbers I need to catch to travel from Oldham Manchester to Hanley in Staffordshire useing my new free travel pass. Only used it on short local journeys so far.

This site is supposed to help, though I've found it quite useless! Used it to help me in London and it directed me by 3 buses on an hour and a half journey that was 20min by one direct bus. But it may work for you?

I live in Hanley and am trying to think of how I would get to Manchester from here by bus so I can reverse the journey and help you out.

I admit, I'm struggling - I would either drive or get the train! If I find a route I'll let you know...

Why not ask the Bus Company Enquiry Office, I imagine they would be able to advise as necessary?

That is fine in theory but surely a trip across two or three counties will involve more than one bus company? In Hanley we use First PMT and they don't run to Manchester.

You can definately travel via National Express but I you can't use the free bus passes on there.

I worked in passenger transport for a number of years, and bus company travel offices always had details available of other operators timetables and conditions adjoining their area.
Surely it must be worth a try as the first "port of call"?
