Thunder, lightning, rain, rain. Branches down, wires down, but no water in basement!!! More storms later though. Keep fingers crossed.

Wow!
Lovely sunshine here!
Hope we're not about to get what you've got. I'll keep my wellies handy.
Just cloudy and breezy in Norn Iron. Where do you live EngTeach
Sounds really bad!!!

Hope you dry out soon!!
I was quite worried about my washing out on the line for a second there EngTeach, till I remembered you're in the States.
You don't need to be in the states-we've just had a torrential thunderstorm here -don't mind the thunder but the lightning's another thing!
Hi Eng, New York weather comes on our news if it gets very bad. Hope youre ok.

Thanks guys. I ran to store between downpours. I get so nervous when we have any type of severe weather: snow, rain and even really bad heat makes me nervous too. I worry about everything. Actually it is sunny and warm now. Just like yesterday and then all hell broke loose. The same is expected for today.
I think we here in North West England may well be in for some storm soon. I can see the black clouds approaching and it has gone a bit dark.
Oh no :( Can you tell it to go away before I get to New York in a couple of weeks ;)

What kind of weather do you usually have aorund that time and do you have any special tips for places or things to go to see?

I wanted to go and see gospel in Harlem but Neil won't let me as he thinks I might get shot or something, no sense of adventure :) (well that and not liking gospel...

Hi jenna, The weather in September can be very hot or it can be in the 70's (F). Bring an umbrella b/c we get rain then too. Harlem is being revitalized now. I'm not saying it is all great, but there are some very la-di-da areas there. Former President Clinton has his offices there.

Go to Cenral Park, there is a lovely zoo there. It is huge and does border up into Harlem. That's the bad part. You could go up and down 5th avenue. That's where FAO Schwarz (Toy Store), Trump Tower, Huge Toys R Us, sachs and Rockefeller Center are. Empire State Buliding, ground Zero, .

In Queens you could visit Flushing Meadows Park. That's where the big Hemisphere/Globe thing is. It is in a lot of movies. There is a small zoo, museum and picnic area. The park is the old World's fair grounds.

Back to Manhattan... there are Seinfeld and Sex in the City Tours in addition to the tourist bus tours. I am bad b/c I have lived here all my life and have not gone to see things people travel to see.

Where are you staying?
I think near 5th Avenue and Grand Central Station I think (Madison at 45th?).

I'm sooo excited and can't quite believe I'll be there in under 2 weeks!

We definitely want to do central park, Empire State, Statue of Liberty, Central Station, Greenwich Village, Broadway (maybe see a show) and 5th Avenue.

I wanted to go to a gospel thing and Neil wants to do Macys.

A friend of mine from college lived there for a bit and he gave us some tips but very open to suggestions :)

I've heard the SATC tour is great though I've never really watched more than a few episodes. I'd love to do a film and TV tour though and would like to do the ESB at night as well as in the day.

I'm a little unsure about ground zero as I don't like to think of it as a "tourist" site. I'd be more likely to go there for a quiet reflective moment but would feel wierd being around people gawking and taking photos and such.

I know what you mean about Ground Zero and gawkers. A little weird. It sounds like you have a good idea of things to do and see. In Times square there is TKTS booth where you can half price show tickets for that day. if you are flexible and might not get to sit together, you can get great seats for a Broadway show. I am dying to see Wicked.
