Well, we're OK here so far. I'm a bit worried because I had to push the wheelie bin up to the top of the drive for collection tomorrow morning - and it may not be in the same place by then!
I have to go out tomorrow morning and also tomorrow afternoon, so I shall do. my new (to me) little car is so light that it may be blown over fallen trees! I jest, of course.

It's obviously going to be bad weather, but the way media has been going the last few years they always overstate things and seem to take glee in trying to frighten you. I'll drive carefully and hope for the best.
people have been killed in these storms, jourdain, so I really can't see anything wrong with issuing danger warnings. If you survive, that's great, but others may not.

I believe they realise it is better to err on the side of caution but especially so after the Michael Fish episode in the 80s
so what's the difference with a 'weather bomb' or are they the same thing?
jno, sticky - I'm not being bombastic or full of hubris. I just know that storms happen and some of them kill people - in fact most of them will find at least one victim. I'm just saying that I prefer to carry on living my life. If I just had to nip to the shops - I'd put it off - but it's more important than that.
You can live your life scared -- or you can just live your life. :)

Schools are shut as a precaution and bridges closed it is generally best to follow the advice !

The thing with common sense is that it is anything but
Hopefully, the winds won’t be too bad for you all tomorrow,.
