Is anyone else having trouble getting the subtitles on ITV3 ? We can get the subtitles on every other channel, just not ITV3. The Duty Officer was less than helpful (though pleasant) and suggested that my TV was at fault. I cannot see that it can be ,as I can get them on all the other channels. We watch with Freeview and get our signal from the Angus transmitter. We have 2 fairly new digital TVs and have the same problem with both of them. I have also got out an old, non-digital TV, hooked it up to a digi-box and again got subtitles everywhere except ITV3. I am sure that the Duty officer thinks I am a mad old bat because they are no longer answering my e-mails..... Anyone got the same problem ? or any advice as to how to solve it ? Thanks
(I originally posted this on TV, but thought it might be better posted here.)

Your aerial system needs improving.

In an ideal world, the elements of a TV aerial should be exactly the right length to resonate with the frequency of the incoming signal. Since each channel is on a different frequency, that would require you to have a different aerial for every channel. Obviously that's not possible, so all aerials have to offer a 'compromise solution' which means that they'll be better at receiving some channels than others. Your aerial is adequate for most channels but only 'borderline' for ITV3. (i.e. it provides a good enough signal for resolution of the picture but the signal strength is inadequate for reception of subtitles on ITV3).

Since you're generally getting good reception, you might well get a sufficient improvement in signal strength by simply using a cheap signal amplifier. If not, you'll need to upgrade your aerial to something like this:

(You should also replace the cabling at the same time).

Thank you very much.

I wish the Duty Officer at ITV3 had been half as helpful.

I will look into getting a signal amplifier.
