i'm thinking of gettin a tattoo
but i want it to mean something to me
it needs to contain a celtic knot but when i look at sites i can't find anything that actually signifies something like friendship that loads of people don't have
does anyone know of celtic symbols? or of a site that has them and their explanations?
no replies tellin me not to get a tattooplease
thanks

Why dont you go into a tattoo shop and ask them, they may have experinence of that type of art and also will know what would look good as a tattoo.
That is because Celtic symbols don't have such meanings.

"... many of the purported meanings of the symbols are usually simply made up (most often to sell trinkets and jewelry).

There are no known authentic knotwork designs meaning love or loyalty or many of the other common meanings ascribed to the designs"

Have a look on here

if you're on facebook there's tattoo group, if you have a spare 10 days to trawl through aaaaall the photos to see if there's anything you like?
I'm booked in to have my first next Wednesday (!) - I'm having a tribal design on my upper arm that I picked off a website and then added my own bit to in the same style.

Have a look at www.tribalshapes.com (shape 82 - other images)

Don't be put off by others if you want to get one. I've been meaning to do this for years. Good luck.
Why? you look a pillock from day 1and when you get old you'll look an old pillock with a smudge!

I've never understood this need to mark oneself permanently with some "trendy" design, that'll be about as trendy as having "Mum and Dad" with a dagger in a few years!

Choosing to get a tatoo is a personal choice dont let anyone sway your decision just because they personally dont like them.
Yes, tattoos are a good idea.

As a journalist once said 'they help you to see someone is a pillock before they open their mouth'.
hey befuzzled! my tattoos are mostly celtic ones but it can be hard to find many in tattoo shops etc. go to the library or to a good book shop where you can find many books showing celtic art and designs..take such a book to a good tattoo artist and he can usually combine different designs to get the one you want! good luck :)
ps. to all of the above doubters/opinionated fools...a journalist once said...the only difference between tattooed people and non tattooed people is....tattooed people dont give a f*ck if you're not tattooed!
hee hee gonzo - well said

most tattooists have pattern books you can go look through and you can discuss designs with them
have a look at this it may give you some ideas of celtic meanings.
