I've just unpinned my red rose.................ah well...........that's it for another year. Saw no-one else wearing one today. The local pub which was full of leprechauns and green last month didn't even have the 'usual' union flags............

I agree. A colleague decked her desk out today in full patriotic regalia, and lovely it was too. in my old workplace, someone was offended by my St george's flag !!!! Perhaps if I had worn kelly green on March 17th they would not have minded?
Who?
long live england !
:-)
In Nottingham Old Market Sq, we had a couple of bearskin trumpeters, a couple of squaddies with a climbing wall, a medieval trio playing a lute, a recorder and a drum, with a prancing Robin Hood and about a dozen people waving flags. Which was nice.

On St Patricks Day, we had a fully decked out stage with lights amps and speakers, live singers and Irish dancers all day, a zillion people waving flags and wearing Guinness hats, a parade that went for 2 miles and involved various floats, 3 marching bands, 2 lots of majorettes, a tinkers caravan, a mobile poteen distillery, and (bizarrely) a routemaster double decker bus.

The Irish just do it so much better, the English are too embarrassed to be arsed.
