Jimmer, I reckon you are right - I don't think I've had the room spinning when I've had something to eat. But I have nearly fallen out a 3rd floor window whilst trying to get some air (I really don't recommend that).

I'm going to have to go out tonight and work on my tolerance levels now...

Not sure its the eating thing. I frequently forget to eat when Im out. I bet having posted this I get the damn things tonight
We call it "The Whirly pits" up here. I don't seem to get them either these days, but that's either because I don't drink so much, or becasue I pass out more quickly!
..someone once told me that a cure for the bed spins was to put one of your feet on the floor..now this is all very well...but on trying to test this theory my left foot got frozen , and I can't remember if the spinning stopped because...I passed out...I still get the spins, I am a 35 yr old female...but I hardly ever drink these days and when I do ...I always drink too much ...moderation is not my forte...

I found I only used to suffer the spins (which, for me, wasn't "spinning" as such but the whole room dropping away to the bottom of the bed repeatedly and with increasing speed until my eyes, trying to keep up, were so far up into their sockets that I could have read the washing instructions on my own brain) if my face was upwards.  I know that's a strange way to word it but I'm not usually one for sleeping on my back.  Nevertheless, after a good few I found this was the obvious way to lie.

So, I lay on my back but with my head well and truly  to one side.

To answer cardboard's original question, I think all the palaver of developing techniques to avoid it means you employ them now automatically and, so, never experience it.

cardboard, it is possible you've unwittingly changed your habits in order to avoid them?

Good thread!  Maybe ya used to puff a bit back then, but not anymore!  I still get them... if I'm lucky $

I get the 'bed spins', the 'room spins', the 'everything spins' all the time... then i normally throw-up followed by passing out!
Such a lovely image!
I'm a girl so amarillis your theory may well be correct!! (or maybe you need more people to respond!)

You're adapting!!!

Your body & brain have developed techniques to survive in a pickled environment. You're so permanently plastered that that's your normal state now and you can live with it.

Watch out for when you finally sober-up, though - you might just go spinning off into orbit.
