Unbelievable....How can anyone be so heartless, for the sake of money? I hope the rental agency goes out of business following the reputation they won't fail to gain after this!

This is terrible!

The flat can be rented out again and the landlords will get their money back. Especially in an area like Liverpool.

This is so unfair on the parents.

I thought when someone dies their debt dies with them, seems not.
thats ridiculous, the parents really dont need any more trauma

so greedy !

That's what I thought funnygirl! They would just need to rent out the flat again, they would only incur a minimal loss....Shame on them! Imagine the poor parents, having to deal with their grief AND financial worries of that kind...Heartless greedy barstewards!!!
What a total bunch of Gits.
Well I don't expect anything less from a letting agency. They lower down the evolutionary scale that solicitors.
I would tell them take me to court and let a judge decide. They would soon back off knowing there wouldn't be a judge in the land that would find in their favour.

If I was working for that agency and they asked me to do this, I would flatly refuse, the hell with getting fired. I wouldn't want to work for a company that doesn't have an ounce of humanity anyway! Shame!

He was just being greedy though, wasn't he? it's hard to have sympathy for someone who plays with his money like that, they're letting themselves in for a big loss.
The market isn't that bad that they wouldn't have found another tennant for the whole duration of the lease. Grrr....Wish I knew what company it is!
That is disgusting. I suppose that in theory they are within their rights to ask for rent but morally I just can't see how anyone could be so heartless. They must have some discretion in these matters surely?

True Legend. Still, can't help being amazed at such pure greediness! Guess that's capitalism in its "purest" form. Sad.

Also, I'd have thought that landlords take out insurance against unpaid rent?

I've no idea how it works....
Sad state of affairs though, in the end.

hi max, its disgusting but sadly, unsurprising .
My friend whos mum passed away this week, lived in a council flat, they got told that it has to be cleared, totally, every last scrap from curtain poles to shelves, everything, what they dont remove, they will get charged for! Not pennies either! Also., until this is done, they have to pay her full rent!

Lovely and sympathetic when a family has just lost their only parent! The letter was there within a day to inform them of it! Talk about adding insult to injury! Obviously a loyal tennants death to them means pound signs!
How sad and heartless.
heartless, as if the family haven't suffered enough without this extra stress, some people
just don't care anymore. The Rental co will
continue to make money so they should have
sympathy and let the "Debt die" with the poor girl.
