I read somewhere that zebras are fierce animals. I was surprised because I thought they were harmless like horses. Does anybody know if this true?

Horses are not harmless.
newtron, i was just going to say the same thing!!

No they aren't i know from experience, i would imagine beacuse zebra's are wild they would be a bit more fierce than domesticated horses but horses can be reckless when they want to be. I guess it depends on there temprement and stuff, other than that god knows, any horsey people out there?

Zebra cannot be tamed. They will obviously be more wary of everything and need to be able to protect themselves somehow. Just like a horse they can give a very nasty bite and back legs which can break a lions jaw with a well aimed kick!
I would never go in a field with horses in it!   The other side of the fence is the best place to be. Zebras are wild animals and as such will protect themselves and attack humans if necessary.
When crossing the Mara river in their migration every year they will fight off crocodiles by biting their eyes.

I would rather go in a field of bulls than horses!

Beautiful creatures, but best viewed from a safe distance - big yellow teeth, feet like scythes and heads dying to butt anyone that gets in their way. No, not keen...

True - horses are not harmless per se but at least they can be tamed and ridden unlike lions, tigers crocodiles etc. I've ridden horses a few times it's a little scary but I didn't die!

Zebras must be able to defend themselves living in the wild. Lovely looking creatures I think. Even swans are, but they are supposed to be able to break the limb of a human with a blow of its wings.

horses are not harmful if you treat them with great care just like everything else living. you wouldn't stand for someone being nasty to you and nor would a horse!
