on the news the other day they were asking a girl at playboy mansion who she was voting for.  She said she wasn't registered and won't vote as she doesn't believe in the electoral college (i think that was the word) and she believes in the woman's right to choose.  What does she mean by electoral college exactly?

BAsically, as I understand it (!) the electors of the USA elects "electors" to the Electoral College - each state has a no. of electors equal to its number of Senators + memebers of the House of Representatives - the Parties provide party "slates" in each State which is what the electorate vote for: e.g.  if the people of Texas want to vote for Bush, they will elect electors from the Republican party slate who will then vote for Bush i the Electoral College - which is a "concept" rather than an actual college building! Thre's more to it than this I don't doubt, but I think that's the gist of it.

Found this:

which doubtless explains it better than me!
