What are everyone's 3 all time favourite books?

I'll start with mine... this is such a hard thing to pick out though. My all time favourite has to be.. 1.Flowers in the Attic by Virginia Andrews (Based on a true story, so well written, very sad, feels a lot of emotions. 2.Domain by James Herbert. (I love the rats trilogy, Domain is a fave because of the setting in the London underground. It's so British, and a very strong book. 3.Pride and Prejudice Jane Austen. (I was lucky enough to study this for A level, altough I liked it before anyhow. Just a genuinely great classic.

Wuthering Heights, very moody and emotional, Birdman by Mo Hayder, an excellent first novel and Breakfast at Tiffany's by Truman Capote because it makes me cry!!!

Oooh Becks...The Wasp Factory is definitely on my list. Also, The Meaning of Liff which I've read SOOO many times (tho Adams Hitchiker books are all great too) and To Kill A Mockingbird, which I read at school, and has kind of stayed with me ever since.

The Catcher In The Rye, To Kill A Mockingbird & Tales of the City Vol 1-6. I've just finished The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown - damn fine intelligent thriller.

I read a wonderful book called "Diary of a Seafaring Man". It was written in the 1700's by a retired seaman. I'd recommend it to anyone who's interested in those times and/or seafaring customs.

I've heard lots of good reports about the Da Vinci Code from friends who have read it, so I'll need to give that a go I think.

Right now I am in a good mood, so 'The Summer Book' by Tove Jannson (about a grandmother and a little girl who spend their sumers on an island... good life-affirming stuff), 'The Alchemist' by Paulo Chielo and 'The Little Prince' by Saint-Xupery [can't think how to spell that properly!] Otherwise Peter Carey's short fiction (very weird), The Magus (John Fowles), 'The Bone People' (Keri Hulme) and, just like eeryone else, I could witter on all day. But I won't.

What a great question. 1. The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster. 2. The Mists of Avalon by Marrion Zimmer Bradley ( I read this one once a yesr every year) 3. East of Eden by John Steinbeck. His best--full of emotion, I get choked up when I think about it.

Disgrace by J M Coetze And I have to say LA PORTE (i don't know if it's traduce in english) by SZABO MAGDA And BOOK OF PI by Yann Martel.
