So sorry to hear your news. This country is getting so bad - there are no deterrents any more. I am of the opinion that if things don't change, then sooner or later vigilante groups are going to be formed, and there will be street wars. My daughter was burgled twice within two months - they took everything that meant anything to her. If I'd have caught them, they would be hanging by their b****s.
All the best

Any CCTV footage?

The answer to the police question is you want them caught and prosecuted.

My thoughts to protection for your son alas is a class 5 firearms offence lol.... for him to carry a small can of Pepper Spray and always always be on guard.

However....back to the legal world.... he may wish to enroll in a Kung Fu class... or other such decent classes....
I was made to do Kung Fu and Karate from the age of 10.... taught by Neville Wray :)

Hope your son isn't too distressed and you sound like a wonderful mum :)
Don't give up on teaching right from wrong. There are still thousands of good parents - and children - around. I understand how you feel though. Last year one of my children was shot several times by a 12 year old boy with an air rifle. Luckily, the injuries weren't too bad, but had a pellet gone into his eye, etc., things could've been much worse. The boy who did it DOESN'T come from a disadvantaged background, but unfortunately his mother is on "happy pills", and with a glazed look in her eyes, whined an apology & said she couldn't keep an eye on her children 24/7. More like she doesn't want to!
Bailey, Im so sorry for you and your son. My son hit the national papers recently and all the news-shows for something similar. The situation was later compounded by the fact that the thugs made a rap video and posted on the internet. They celebrated the fact they had assaulted an innocent person. The text was so graphic, where they stated that they beat him until they thought he was dead, but when they discovered he was still breathing, they went back in a group and thought they had finished him off.

After a long drawn out process, including us being called to Parliament, a number of the assailants were tagged and given about 9 hours of community service. After countless reconstructive surgeries, my son is physically much better. However, the event has robbed him of for lack of a better way to describe ithis innocence. My daughter has been threatenedpresumably because she is considered to be haughty as she doesnt hang with the other kidsthe truth being, she has a select number of friends and those friends are not drug-taking, cursing, underachievers, such as the ones who assaulted my son, but instead prefects at school, who are involved in volunteer community activities, ballet and after-school language clubs.

You need to get your son to hospital to have a report documented and if youre receiving a lackadaisical or complacent response from the police, then immediately contact your local paper and ask for help. This is something they will sink their teeth into.

Im deeply saddened to hear of this. I just sat on a panel with Ed Ball, the education secretary and Robert Flores, the head of the American youth justice system. I was exasperated over the fact our government has spent (wasted) over a half a million pounds in an American programme to let youth conduct juries and adjudication of crimes committed by other youth. Its an appalling decision and creates a further separation from an effective court system. Our police are already impotent to control such crime..this only makes it worse.

Im profoundly sorry for your sons suffering.

I am pleased to see that there are so many kind comments coming our way.

took him to see alan carr live tonight at skeggy which was a scream. he seems ok and has asked if he can go out again tomorrow, which i have agreed to as if we say no, the thuggos have won.

his brother is treating him to a replacement coat tomorrow and i am gonna replace his ipod via household insurance.

still no sign of police - day 3
Hi again baileybird and Fr Bill

This is for Fr Bill.
I have written and deleted many sentences now.... and....
I just wish your son well.

beryllium: Thank you for your kind thoughts. I'm sorry that the details caused you anguish. What happened to him is not unlike what happens every day in our society. What I believe is the saddest of all, is that it often robs young people of their innocence.

I wish you well

Fr Bill
I'm sure your son is made of strong stuff Fr Bill :D

I do find this rather bizarre that BaileyBird is still waiting for the police.

Bailey??? get in contact with the Chief of Police and put in a complaint if they don't pull their fingers out!!!
It does work.

Thank you Beryl, indeed he is! Last month he was presented with an award for 'courage'. As always, I'm so proud of him, as I am of my lovely daughter as well.

Thank you for your kind words. I shall indeed pass them along to him.

Fr Bill
Firstly, I am not promoting violence, but it might be worthwhile your son going to self-defence/martial arts classes.

If nothing else, it gives you self-confidence.

Meanwhile, as my instructor said to me "the best form of defence is distance" i.e run.

If running isn't an option, pick the smallest and run straight at and through/over him, they certainly won't expect that., then keep running.

the local police are not interested. it is a british transport poilce issue, who arived saturday morning - 2 of them came from leeds to sleaford - a drive of maybe 90 miles- and took a photo!

apparently another transport police officer will come to take a statement from leeds next week.

i cannot help wondering what overtime and mileage rate they are on.

Fr Bill I have read some of your answers before and appreciate these ones. You seemto be a lovely rounded person and we could all learn alot from your nature and experience.
