The remote for the central locking on my R reg Citroen Xsara VTS Coupe started to work when it felt like it and so I replaced the lithium battery in the remote but now it doesn't work at all! Do I have to reprogram it somehow or take it to a dealer?? Help please....

Damn, sounds like its f**ked somewhere. French cars eh, its not the only thing working on and off and i don't mean the indicators.
Saw this article re reprogramming the key. May be worth a try.

Quite often you only have about 30 seconds to change the battery in the fob otherwise you need to reprogramme

i had a citroen c5 and had to put key in ignition while holding the lock button, turn key till warning lights come on(oil battery etc...) but do not start engine. keep it there for 5 seconds then turn off ignition. that usually fixed it for me. hope it helps.
