Thanks for all the replies, even the ones putting me down. I don't like furnishings that smell of cigarettes, that's my choice. This is actually the last in a long line of things that have been said/done by this company that I find off-putting and even rude. I have decided not to take the job for other reasons, mainly not honouring time-off next month that was promised at interview. For all that are saying I am whinging and intolerant, I don't agree. I am a community nurse (nothing to do with this post) and many of my patients smoke in their own homes in my presence. This does not bother me, this is their right and I respect that. It's a pity some on here cant respect the fact I find cigarette smells repulsive and have to resort to making personal statements about my character and personality in order to make their point. And as for getting myself a bad name at the company (?!) I dont even work for them yet, and I wont be either. I would prefer to work for someone that respects their staff. Say all you like about the NHS, my line manager in my community post is fair and professional and speaks to folk with respect.
