Is my satellite dish on the wall at home receiving all the channells at once or just the one I am watching at that moment? If it is all of them, that is a HUGE amount of data coming through the cable from the dish to the sattellite box indoors.

Yes, it's receiving them all. But the box chooses the frquency that the tv receives, and that matches what's coming from your dish's lnb
