Is he entertaining? Did he deserve his recent awards? Or is he:- 1) Banal, puerile, patronising and irritating? 2) Is his "wacky & zany" style just half a step up from Timmy Mallet? "What do you think friends?" (in a whiney voice) "slurp"

Chris Evans is a brilliant broadcaster, he is a natural behind a microphone, or in front of a camera , just see how the listening or viewing figures go up when he is given a show to present, please dont compare him to Timmy Mallet, you obviously listen to him, so do i , would you listen to Mallet, i know i would not.

I don't listen to CE but I hear his show - there's a diifference. His last TV comeback was a disaster - my wife insisted I record the 1st episode (she was a "fan" but she was out that night) and even she agreed it was abysmal. It didn't last very long did it? Having his ex-wife on as the main guest was a bit lame especially as she was on the up (in Dr Who) and he was clearly desperate. I wouldn't call him a natural - he's spawned as many turkeys as he has successes. His style is very 80's and a bit tired for my liking - and that slurping thing he does (sucking up saliva, let's be graphic about it) is just plain disgusting and has no place on radio.
Simple then, dont listen to his show, you have your opinion, i have mine.

True enough, but apart from refuting my comparison with timmy mallet you haven't addressed any of my points (not that you have to of course!) but I'm genuinely interested to hear your opinions on the specifics I've mentioned.
Hi deso
I really like Chris Evans and impressed with his drive time show on the radio.
I think he fufils this generation's requirement for a cheeky chappy of the airwaves, so he's bound to grate on some people's nerves, as did his predecessors (Noel Edmonds, Kenny Everett, Tommy Handley, Arthur Askey...). I think he's funny, articulate and deceptively professional, except when having drink taken.
I like Chris Evans a lot.

I was seriously miffed when he got the Drive-Time show - it should have gone to Stuart Maconie, but I'm over that now.

His ideas are good, his ability to talk to children is underestimated, and if he could find someone to dress him properly when he appears on TV, then he will have cracked it.

(Chris - sleeves and trousers can be taken up you know!)
I like the drive time show - I was ready to hate it but he proved me wrong. He is excellent with the kids and he covered up flowerdew's attempt at being trendy very well.
Can't stand the man - I agree he's one step up from Timmy Mallett!!!
