Hmmm, depending on the dentist, about 10 mins.

ten minutes i can handle.... fingers crossed my dentist is particularly competent and can do it even quicker...

Hmmm, i dont think it would be quicker. He will chat to you for a bit first so it seems like it is taking longer so it justifies his payment.
Just go in and be quiet and nod or give one word answers :)
